Our Club follows the AFL’s updated 2024 Concussion Protocols, which apply across all levels of Australian Football.
The AFL has announced the following mandatory requirements for all Australian rules football competitions:
A minimum 21-day return-to-play protocol now applies to every level of football outside the AFL/AFLW — this includes senior community football, junior football, State League competitions (e.g., VFL/VFLW), talent pathway programs, and all community leagues.
Under these guidelines, the earliest a player can return to play after sustaining a concussion is 21 days from the date of the incident, and only if they have safely completed each stage of the AFL’s return-to-play program.
Our Club has adopted:
The AFL’s 2024 Concussion Protocols for all football programs and age groups.
These guidelines apply to all matches — including training, practice games, trials, representative games, and any other club-sanctioned activity.
We are committed to providing a safe sporting environment and will continue to follow the AFL’s national standards for concussion management. Education, awareness, and adherence to the guidelines help protect the wellbeing of all players, coaches, and volunteers.

Our Club requires an incident report to be completed whenever a player suffers an injury that removes them from the game and/or requires medical attention after the match. This process helps ensure accurate documentation and safe return-to-play decisions.
